Carbontrace: account access and calculation sources

Carbontrace settings let your organization save its own API key and enable or disable the integration. Test connection checks the saved key against your Carbontrace account. A successful check confirms account access only: it performs no CO₂ calculation and does not approve report totals. A revoked key is rejected.

Calculation input and corrections

A calculation needs a brand, model or product code and the actual country of use. On the inbound order detail page, an organization administrator or manager can use Carbontrace usage country to choose Edit, search for the confirmed country and Save. This remains available after receipt or completion. Choose Unknown to clear an earlier choice or leave an unconfirmed country unset. An unknown country pauses only the calculation; receiving, testing and erasure can continue. ReVend does not infer it from a warehouse, organization location, customer address or device specifications.

Changing the country or the device’s effective order assignment makes its previous calculation input and results outdated. Recovery uses the updated input. Identical hardware, country and order context do not create another calculation. Obsolete requests awaiting submission are retired; previously submitted requests and late answers remain in the history. Returning to identical earlier input can reuse a matching saved result.

Saved manual device specifications retain priority; Blancco fills missing fields. Changing RAM from 16 to 32 GB makes the previous result outdated. Repeating identical input does not create another calculation. An older answer arriving later remains in the history instead of replacing the current input’s result.

Resuming and importing

Interrupted processing can resume. ReVend checks the organization, connection and submitted devices before storing a result page. An incomplete page does not complete the job. Under /general/imports/carbontrace, preview the matched devices before applying a results file. Registration and results are stored together, so a failed import leaves no partial result.

Product footprint in reports

The ESG report has a separate Product footprint section for one selected period. It shows the available amount in kg CO2e, the expected devices and how many have a current calculated, imported or missing result. Partial coverage is explicit; missing results are not counted as zero. Usage countries, life-cycle stages and available source methods, assumptions and calculation dates remain visible. Periods are not added together into a product-footprint total.

In the client report dialog, select the period and client to load that client’s preview. It uses the same device selection and product-footprint rules as the PDF. Returned devices can carry product information without receiving an internal reuse, recycling or avoided-emissions claim. The accompanying email refers to the attached PDF and contains no organization-wide numerical claims.

What the numbers mean

A product footprint describes modeled emissions over a product’s life cycle. It is additional product information, separate from the emissions and savings of an erasure or processing service. Internal category estimates retain their own section and source label. Complete coverage means that all selected devices have a current result; it does not mean independent verification. Account access and local report checks do not complete provider acceptance: suitable real provider results and the practical trial still require separate validation.
